Hola from Guatemala!! We are in beautiful Guatemala to visit baby Flora. We traveled on Saturday, August 25th and arrived around 7pm that evening. Our Foster Mother and Maria's Foster Mother, Lidia, met us at the airport. They had arranged transportation for us from the airport to Lidia's home. Lidia had prepared a delicious meal of lasagna for us. It was a very nice way to start our time in Guatemala.

We didn't do too much on Sunday. We were able to relax and enjoy the city that Lidia lives in. We went for a couple of walks, watched some young men play soccer, Maria and Diego, Lidia's grandson, played at a park and we napped a lot. It was a very relaxing day. Lidia made us homemade tomales on Sunday evening. They were super good. Soooo much better than any tomale I have ever had at home.

On Monday late morning Lidia's brother gave us a ride to the Marriott in Guatemala City. We knew that we were creating a lot of extra work for Lidia and didn't want to impose on her for too long. She watches her grandson most days and has two foster children to take care of. Adding Dave, I, Maria and Flora to the mix was creating a lot of work for her. We came to the Marriott and have been having a great time getting to know Flora. Maria is acting like such a big sister already. When "the baby" cries, Maria will immediately find the bottle and try to give it to her, although most times the bottle gets located in her ear instead of her mouth. She also tells baby Flora to "sshhh" with her finger up by her mouth when she cries. I think she has gotten over the initial jealousy of another little one around. The first couple of days, when I picked up Flora, Maria would want to be held to. It was cute, but my arms started to hurt rather quickly. We went to the pool today. Flora slept thru the pool party, but Maria and Dave had a great time splashing around. Everyone at the pool was amazed at how Maria would go under water and not be bothered at all! She is a little fish!!

After that long day at the pool it was time for a well deserved nap!!
